Lighting
With the recently acquired know-how in the field of lighting technology, light guides can be designed and optically simulated. Based on numerical optimization of the light guides the resulting illumination features an unprecedented homogeneity combined with very high system efficiency. The optimization software used is able to compute complex 3D shapes and geometry, allowing a large freedom of design.
The very high system efficiencies are achieved through the use of microstructures within the light guides. Depending on the application, process safe structures of size between 50µm and 200µm are used. Due to these small structures, efficient, thin walled light guides can be produced which in general eliminates the need for additional diffuser components. These quality characteristics lead to a system cost advantage if compared to current systems with same requirements.
